Ahead of its World premiere at the 30th Fantasia International Film Festival, I had the opportunity to chat with director Kasper Kalle to discuss his second feature, No Rest For The Wicked—a gothic tale of two men whose love is torn apart by tragedy and societal prejudice. A story of devotion that transcends death.
The film is based on Manor, the 1884 short story by German author and pioneering LGBTQ+ activist Karl Heinrich Ulrichs.
Half forbidden love story, half tragedy, No Rest For The Wicked blends gothic drama and horror into an enigmatic experience. Set against the isolated landscapes of the Faroe Islands, the film immerses us in a story that feels more relevant today than ever, exploring love, loss, and the devastating consequences of prejudice.
